In December 2017, the United Nations invited Duarte Geraldino to share his work at a stocktaking meeting as negotiations started on the upcoming Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.
His talk titled ” What Citizens see in the face of newcomers,” helped shape discussions at the beginning of this historical process. Click here to listen to his talk.
The event took place in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Hundreds of high-level diplomats, negotiators and representatives from civil society, the private sector, academia, trade unions, parliaments and National Human Rights Institutions attended the meeting. Duarte spoke during the ideas labs about perceptions and narratives surrounding newcomers and how they shape immigration policy.
